Swimming Pool Access via Facial Recognition

For overnight guests, Recreation Centre De Vogel offers facial recognition as an access control method for the swimming pool. This system provides quick and easy entry without the need for cards, wristbands, or other physical items.

Using facial recognition is voluntary. If you prefer not to use it, you can visit the reception for an alternative access method.

How does facial recognition work?

Our facial recognition works similarly to unlocking a smartphone with your face.

  1. You upload a passport photo or a selfie in the app

  2. The software analyses specific points on your face

  3. These points are converted into a unique, encrypted template (AES‑256 encryption)

  4. This template cannot be traced back to a real face

  5. At the pool entrance scanner, your template is compared to the stored template. If they match, the gate opens

Templates are securely stored in a digital vault in the Netherlands, protected with strong encryption and strict security standards

Uploading your photo: how to do it

Please make sure to upload the photos of yourself and your fellow guests in the app before arrival. This allows you to use the swimming pool immediately.

Step-by-step guide:

  1. Open the Recreation Centre De Vogel app and log in

  2. Go to “Menu”

  3. Click on “My Environment”

  4. Go to “My Reservation”

  5. Add fellow guests via “Guest List”

  6. Go to “Facial Recognition” and upload the photos

Photo guidelines:

  • Look directly into the camera

  • Keep your face centred in the photo

  • Use a photo without other people, animals, or accessories (such as sunglasses, caps, or hats)

When uploading, we ask for your explicit consent to process biometric data. You may withdraw this consent at any time.

If you wish to delete your photo during your stay, you can do so. Please note that you will not be able to upload a new photo afterwards.
